Nicola Cooke and Jake Chapman

FAMILY OWNED AND OPERATED

Allan's Automatics has been a family-owned and operated business in Cairns for over 30 years.

In 2025, we relocated to a much larger and better space to allow our team to continue to provide Far North Queensland with the same services locals have come to know and trust whilst keeping up with our growing demand and team.

Allan's Automatics remains your one-stop shop for all things automatics, we’ve put together a team who grew up playing with cars and have never stopped.

Our Team

  • Jake Chapman Allans Automatics

    Jake

Jake started tinkering in the Allan's Automatics shed not long after he learnt to walk. He completed his apprenticeship with the business after finishing high school and has continued to master the ins and outs of transmissions, drivelines and the trade.

A short conversation with Jake is enough to see his passion and knowledge of the automotive industry shine through. His ability to educate both our team and our customers is the backbone of what makes Allan's Automatics so great.

What the team says about him: Understanding and patient, with excellent knowledge and always willing to teach. Meme King, but definitely not to be trusted with paperwork.

  • Nicola Cooke Allans Automatics

    Nicola

Nicola has more than 15 years of experience in the automotive industry, having worked as an administrator, service adviser and parts interpreter in both Cape York and Cairns.

She is a Jill of all trades here at Allan’s Automatics, and her knowledge might just surprise you. Nicola is the yin to Jake’s yang, and together they make one formidable team.

What the team says about her: She brings mummy energy, making sure everyone is supported and happy. She keeps everything running smoothly.

  • Connor

    Connor

Connor is the social butterfly of the Allan’s Automatics team, so you’ll often see him out and about at events.

He’s fully qualified, with a calm and patient nature that makes him a valuable asset to the team.

Connor inherited his passion for the mechanical industry from his father and enjoys mountain biking in his free time.

What the team says about him: Everyone’s best mate, easy to like, helpful, gives great explanations and has a wicked laugh.

  • Luke

    Luke

Luke is a qualified technician and transmission builder here at Allan's Automatics. He has been a valuable team member for more than seven years.

A true car enthusiast, he loves to share his knowledge and light-hearted banter with the team. Outside of work, you might spot him camping or out 4x4ing.

What the team says about him: Generous with his time for teaching, approachable, hardworking and cheeky with a great sense of humour.

  • Emily

    Emily

A rose among the thorns, Emily is one of our apprentices. She’s a fantastic role model for young girls and women wanting to succeed in a male-dominated industry.

She’s humble, hardworking and a dream teammate. Her sense of humour keeps the workshop in stitches. On weekends, you’ll find her tinkering with her project cars or out in the garden.

What the team says about her: Hilarious, respectful and approachable. She sets high standards and leads by example.

  • Hayden

    Hayden

Hayden is one of our new additions and is already proving himself a valuable asset. He doesn’t shy away from the less desirable jobs, and we think he secretly enjoys them.

He’s outgoing, confident and eager to learn. On weekends, he loves camping with his family.

What the team says about him: Approachable, always willing to lend a hand and get stuck in.

  • Ethan

    Ethan

Ethan is quiet and steady, but watch out for his one-liners. One of the new kids on the block, he started his apprenticeship with us in 2025. He’s a fast learner and always asks great questions.

In his free time, you’ll find him at the beach with his blue Staffy, Cora, or at the driving range hitting some balls.

What the team says about him: A great bloke, patient, respectful and hardworking, with a reserved but excellent sense of humour.

  • Nos the Koolie Allans Automatics

    Nos

Nos has been the part-time foreman at Allan’s Automatics for almost seven years, and while he might not hold a spanner, he’s still an essential part of the team.

As an Australian Koolie, he’s quick on his feet, sharp-eyed and always ready to supervise your smoko or steal your rag.

Known for his exceptional people skills, Nos welcomes customers with a wag and a grin, and he only accepts payment in pats.

What the team says about him: He can get a bit smelly and leaves plenty of hair around the place, but he’s a very good boy.
